Info | Larry Glick has spent his life caring for his family and his community. Born and raised in Nockamixon Township, Upper Bucks County, Larry knows his way around the 143rd Assembly District like a true native should. In fact, the woods, fields and streams of his childhood are as familiar to him today as they were more than 35 years ago when he graduated from Palisades High School. As a young man, Larry started his law enforcement career as a police officer in Tinicum Township, Bucks County. Driving the back roads of the township, he came to know many of the people and the issues that were important to them.
In 1981, Larry and his family moved to Colorado, where Larry worked for Rockwell International, a U. S. Department of Energy (DOE) Nuclear Safeguards and Security Contractor, as a security inspector and SWAT Team Commander. In 1987, the Glicks moved to Albuquerque, NM. Larry became an Instructor and later, the Training Division Head for the DOE Central Training Academy of the Department of Energy. In 1993 Larry was offered a Director’s position with another federal government contractor, DynCorp, Inc. on the U.S. Department of Justice Asset Forfeiture Contractor Support Program, and he was able to move his family back home to Bucks County. Over the years, Larry has held “Q” and “Top Secret” security clearances for the United States Government and has provided special operations and incident management training in Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and the Far East.
In 1992 Larry took command of the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA). As Executive Director, he increased the NTOA’s membership from 1500 members to its current 40,000 members. He also increased NTOA revenues from $100K to $1.6 million and established NTOA as the leading information, training and technology resource for the law enforcement community nationally and internationally.
Larry left the NTOA in September of 2003 to refocus his efforts on police officer safety in training and in response to critical incidents. To this end, he founded the International Tactical Officers Training Association (ITOTA) in January of 2004. Currently, Larry is the Training Director for the Abington Township Police Department, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
Larry has lectured nationally on various law enforcement subjects, including school security, and crisis management in the aftermath of the Columbine High School shooting incident. He has also lectured to private and government entities on anti-terrorism and counter-terrorism measures, as well as physical plant and personnel security.
Since returning to Pennsylvania in 1993, Larry and his family have lived in Doylestown Township, where Larry has been a member and two term past president of the Doylestown Rotary. In 2001 Larry was the proud recipient of the Central Bucks County Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Life Time Achievement Award.
