Info | LOOMIS, Andrew Williams, a Representative from Ohio; born in Lebanon, Conn., June 27, 1797; was graduated in law from Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., in 1819; was admitted to the bar; moved to Canton, Ohio, and practiced; moved to New Lisbon (now Lisbon), Ohio.
Delegate to the National-Republican State convention in 1827 and 1828.
U.S. House (W-OH) 1837 (resigned on 10/20/1837)
Moved to Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1839 and resumed the practice of his profession; member of the peace convention of 1861 held in Washington, D.C., in an effort to devise means to prevent the impending war; moved to Cleveland, Ohio, about 1868; died while on a visit to Cumberland, Md., August 24, 1873; interment in Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pa.
