Info | Mike O'Brien resides in Fishtown with his wife Rita, a Philadelphia Public School teacher; his children, Bridget, a recent graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and Michael, a freshman at the University of Miami; his dog; his cat and a few fish.
Mike served as Chief of Staff for State Representative Marie Lederer from 1994 to 2004 and has been pursuing interest in the private sector since leaving government.
Mike was a founding member of the Fishtown Neighbors Association and served as its first Zoning Committee chairperson. Mike has served as a Board Member for a number of non-profit organizations, including: NCC Neumann, a single purpose non-profit which has crated 67 units of affordable senior housing in a historically and architecturally significant former hospital; the Interstate Land Management Corporation; the Philadelphia Ship Preservation Guild; Kensington South Community development Corporation (ex officio) and the Hibernian Development Corporation.
Mike was a co-convener of the Old City Task Force and the South Street Alliance, which has served as citywide models for community and intergovernmental cooperation in dealing with nuisance and quality of life issues.
