InfoAnita Perez Ferguson was president of the National Women's Political Caucus from 1995 - 1999.

Prior to joining NWPC, Perez Fergurson served as White House Liaison to the U.S. Department of Transportation, and National Director of Training and Education, at the Democratic National Committee. Perez Ferguson has provided leadership and political skills training to women in the United States, Latin America, Africa and Europe.

Perez Ferguson has been active in politics for over 15 years. She was twice the Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from California. Her 1990 bid marked the first time an Hispanic woman ran for the U.S. House from California, her other public service positions included Planning Commissioner, Affirmative Action Commissioner, and Chair of the Ethnic Advisory Board for Education in California.

Frequently quoted on subjects including women in politics, political strategy, election reform, and minority issues, Anita Perez Ferguson was named on of The Hundred Most Powerful Women in Washington, D.C., by the Washingtonian magazine, and one of the 25 Most Influential Hispanics in Washington by Hispanic Magazine. She has been certified by Toastmaster International, and is a graduate of the Gallup Leadership Institute for CEO's. Anita has been a featured speaker/participant for organizations including the international Platform Association, the America Political Science Association, the American Enterprise Institute, and the International Women's Leadership Conference at the JFK School of Government, Harvard University.

In the summer of 1999 she was the presenter and mentor at Radcliffe College's new program, Emerging Leaders in Latin America: A Leadership Institute for Latin American Women, and Woodrow Wilson Visiting Fellow for the 1999 - 2000 year, at Princeton University.

Anita Perez Ferguson has a BA in Communications, an MA in Counseling Psychology and an MA in Management.

Mrs. Anita Perez Ferguson has been a great supported of the Experience in Democracy Leadership Program by donating her book "A Passion for Politics: Encouraging Women in Leadership." This book is given to our Latina delegates to encourage them to learn more about Hispanic women leaders and to nurture their appetite for leadership skills. "Politics is the path to social change, and that getting more women involved in voting, campaigning, and running for office can produce results that benefit women and men" (Anita Perez Ferguson 6).
