Info | Life really began for me in High School. After being transplanted from Florida to Birmingham in 1966, I was fortunate enough to have graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 1970. My passion for life and people was not reflected in my grades, I was a dreamer in the 1960’s. Rock music and Jimi Hendrix epitomized my philosophy. Having graduated high school, I was anxious to experience life far from home. Only for me, having more zeal for life than interests in grades, it wasn’t easy to get accepted into an institution of higher learning.
Western Carolina University, however, was happy to have accepted me. As is the case with newly enrolled freshmen, scholastic interests took a back seat to the passion life had to offer.
I found that even without a T’bird “fun, fun, fun” can be had anywhere. However, the illusion of freedom is always overshadowed by the truth. I thought that I was doing well by simply attending classes, but soon it became evident that osmosis was not working. I realized that I was wasting time and money. After only a year of higher learning, I turned my focus on building a career in Raleigh, North Carolina.
