| Info | Robert Vessey is a 5th generation potato farmer who is a lifelong resident of York - Oyster Bed. He is the owner of Vessey Produce of York, which has won 14 international championships at the Royal Winter Fair for their seed and tablestock entries.
As an operator of a successful small business, Robert has serious concerns about the way in which the Conservatives have mismanaged the province's finances. He knows that rising debt and high taxes hurt both individuals and the businesses we look to for job creation on the Island.
Robert believes that government needs to get back to the priorities that matter to Islanders. Improved access to health care, greater support for our seniors, and enhanced educational opportunities are all priorities to which he is committed. As a business operator, he also knows that government must do more to encourage both primary industries as well as tourism.
As a father of a young family, Robert is committed to making sure the next generation of Islanders have the same opportunities that he has had. "I want my children to have the option of choosing to live and work in the community in which they were raised, rather looking to going out West as the only option for a future."
Robert is an active volunteer and has worked with many fundraisers and charity events in the community. He is also keenly interested in amateur sports, having played and coached in 10 Canadian Senior Men's Fastball Championships, coached soccer in the Sherwood Rangers youth program and been a member of Squash PEI.
Robert and his wife Tracey live in York and have two children, Marc and Danica.
