Tony Huntjenswas first elected to represent Western Charlotte on June 7, 1999 and was re-elected on June 9, 2003. He was sworn in as Minister of Family and Community Services and Minister responsible for the Advisory Council on Seniors on June 27, 2003, a post he resigned on October 29, 2005.

He earned a Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Education degrees at the University of New Brunswick. During his long teaching career, he has helped adult and children alike to upgrade their education. He has been actively involved in the Business Education Council as well as in curriculum development committees. He was president of the Charlotte County Music Festival and spent years as a choir director and a choir member.

He is extensively involved with his church and volunteers for a variety of community organizations.

Mr. Huntjens lives in St. Stephen.
