Info | George C. Wallace, Jr. was born in Eufaula, Alabama, on October 17, 1951. Growing up in a well-known Alabama political family, he graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1970. Following that, he obtained a B.A. Degree in History from Huntingdon College in 1976. He continued his education with graduate work in Political Science and Public Administration at Auburn University at Montgomery.
In 1986 and again in 1990, he was elected as State Treasurer of Alabama and served two four-year terms. Upon completion of his two terms as State Treasurer, Mr. Wallace was employed by the Center for Government and Public Affairs at Auburn University at Montgomery.
In November 1998, Mr. Wallace was elected to the Alabama Public Service Commission, where he serves as Commissioner, Place No. 2. As Commissioner, he is responsible for regulating privately-owned companies that provide electric, gas, water and telecommunications services and certain aspects of the transportation industry.
In November 2000, Mr. Wallace married the former Elizabeth Grimes Maynor of Birmingham
