Info | Lionel Rivera was elected Mayor of Colorado Springs in April of 2003. In the prior years he served the community as Vice Mayor and At-Large City Councilman beginning in 1997.
Rivera has worked as a financial planner for nearly 20 years advising business owners, retirees, non-profits and young families on a range of financial issues.
Lionel and his wife, Lynn, were married at the St. Mary’s Cathedral Catholic Church in downtown Colorado Springs. The Rivera’s take great pride in their community service over the years ranging from Big Brothers – Big Sisters to the Colorado Springs Greater Chamber of Commerce.
Lionel Rivera came to Colorado Springs in 1984 as a Captain in the United States Army based at Fort Carson. After 10 years, Rivera was honorably discharged from the active Army as a Captain, and from the Army Reserves as a Major.
