| Info | Gary Trauner, 47, is a husband, father, businessman, community volunteer, and elected official residing in Wilson, Wyoming. Sixteen years ago, he and his wife Terry chose Wyoming as the place they wanted to live and raise a family; they are now the proud parents of two young boys - ages 12 and 6.
Gary graduated from Colgate University and obtained a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Stern School of Business at NYU. Terry, Gary’s wife of sixteen years, is an entrepreneur and currently co-owner of a growing Wyoming-based small business.
Gary’s personal interests have always centered on three things he holds dear: 1) family; 2) an active lifestyle; and 3) “making a difference” through public service.
Gary has been active in public service throughout his adult life - serving in both elected and appointed capacities. He is currently Chairman of the Teton County School District #1 Board of Trustees, serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Aspens Water & Sewer District and is currently a member of the Open Range Committee of the Jackson Hole Land Trust, an organization devoted to preserving land integrity in Wyoming by working with landowners and utilizing market-based tools.
Although he has considerable professional experience in business development, business finance, and financial management, with both private and public companies, Gary is, at heart, an entrepreneur.
Most recently, he was co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of OneWest.net, a regional Internet Service Provider based in Jackson Hole, WY. Over a 5-year period, OneWest.net acquired 12 companies and grew to employ over 70 people at its peak. Onewest.net was recently sold to a Wyoming regional telecommunications company.
Through his work in and with growing companies, Gary has seen firsthand the issues that matter to most working people – how to pay for health care, how to achieve a quality education, how to juggle work and family, how to provide a decent “living” wage, and freedom from unreasonable government and corporate intrusion.
Gary made the decision to run for the U.S. Congress based on his belief in public service, his willingness to use his skills and experience to make Wyoming an even better place, and his wish to restore leadership, integrity and a commitment to service for all the people of Wyoming.
