Bob Harms was a school teacher and guidance counselor in Missouri before moving to Miami, Florida in 1969 where he was a guidance counselor and assistant principal in the Dade County School System. In 1972 Bob joined Southeast Mortgage Company (Semco) as a loan officer. He was transferred and promoted to Assistant Manager of Semco's Orlando office in 1974, then promoted again in 1976 and transferred to Jacksonville to open Semco's office there. In 1982, Bob opened TST HARMS, INC., the mortgage lending company of which he is President today.
As a small business owner, there is always a risk of loss. Unfortunately, Bob was forced bankruptcy in 1998. The process was a difficult one, and he experienced what millions of Americans are forced to experience each year. Bob was able to successfully recover and has re-built his business, TST HARMS, into what it is today - a successful small business in Jacksonville, FL.
Public Service
Bob Harms has spent most of his adult life working with and in behalf of children. As a guidance counselor, he worked with many underprivileged and troubled youths. After leaving the educational field Bob kept up his work with kids supporting athletics and coaching. Bob coached for the Arlington Little League for 10 years and for the Arlington YMCA Basketball leagues for 6 years. As coach, he not only coached the teams, but became involved and "coached" individual youths as well. Additionally he was heavily involved in his sons' schools and their activities as they grew up.
