InfoA graduate of Boston College with a Bachelors degree in Journalism, Patty Kim is most familiar to city residents as a former news reporter and anchor for WHP CBS-21, after a decade of previous broadcasting experience with news stations in Maryland and Washington D.C. She also studied nursing for three years at the Boston College Connell School of Nursing. An innate sensitivity and compassion for those she covered, and particularly victims of crimes and tragedy, especially children, marked her broadcasting career.

Patty has been active in an array of civic and community groups, with special focus on the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the South-central Pennsylvania Food Bank, for whom she has provided extensive fundraising and other public awareness activities. Patty’s broadcast-polished style has also led to her frequent service as emcee or host of various charitable events and programs.

Patty promises to work hard on City Council for the support of families, through better education, and stable taxes and a stronger tax base of homeowners; provide safer and cleaner neighborhoods, including increasing penalties for litterers and illegal dumpers, and adding another Animal Control Officer to the city’s workforce; and work closely with the city Department of Parks and Recreation and the school district to create more opportunities for the city’s youth, including support for Harrisburg Parks Partnership, the Boys and Girls Clubs, the YMCA’s and YWCA’s, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Patty is married to John Sider, local director of the Community First Fund, a non-profit small business start-up lender, and they recently had their first child.
