InfoJoe Roberts is a native Pensacolian, and a graduate of the University of West Florida. His wife, Sharon McMurrain Roberts, also a native Pensacolian, and is employed by the State of Florida as an Official Court Reporter for the First Judicial Circuit. Joe and Sharon Kay have two daughters, Leala, 24, and Lindsey, 19.

Joe served his country as a Marine in Vietnam, and recently retired from the Air Force Reserve, after serving on active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He also served as a member of the Army and Air National Guard, and supported operations in Bosnia and Eastern Europe in the 1990’s.

For many years Joe has worked as a carpenter and has been a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. His military training in the field of Aerospace Maintenance led him to work at Fort Rucker, Alabama, where he was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Joe is a conservative Democrat, who believes in a literal interpretation of the U.S. Constitution and responsible fiscal policy. The main focus of his campaign and tenure in office will be to raise the standard of living of Northwest Floridians by bringing more high paying light industry and high-tech jobs to the Panhandle. Joe, whose grandparents were farmers in Northwest Florida, will also promote legislation aimed at reinvigorating family farms and agricultural entrepreneurship throughout the region. When elected, he will provide strong leadership in Washington, and promote the interests of the citizens of Northwest Florida.

Joe will bring many years of problem solving, work and life experience to Washington. His strong military background and status as a war veteran will enable him to make critical national defense and veteran’s affairs decisions based on his own experience and knowledge, rather than relying on the advice of those who have not served.

Joe has participated in humanitarian aid and Christian missionary work in such diverse global locations as Russia and Honduras. As a C-130 Crew Chief with the Air Force Reserve, he has worked and lived in many foreign cultures from Eastern Europe and the Middle East to Central and South America. His understanding of these cultures will be invaluable in dealing effectively with foreign affairs as your Representative in The House.

Joe’s compassion for people, and his belief that the family is the most important and basic institution of American culture, ensures that he will promote the interests of the American family when crafting legislation. An avid outdoorsman, Joe’s love and respect for the natural world leads him to place the health of our planet above the quest for corporate profit.
