Family
Matt is the oldest of three children. Brother Chris is a successful inventor and advertising guru in Orlando. Sister Aimee is married to Jack Genther in Connecticut and they have a little girl and boy. Matt's dad is a retired eye surgeon and mom is a retired nurse.

Education
Attended St. Ann grade school, St. John Neumann High School (both in Naples) and graduated from Northwestern University in 1992 with a B.A. in Economics.

Occupation
Matt began by washing dishes, mopping floors, bussing and waiting tables and tolerating irritating country club members' drink orders. Upon graduating college, Matt went to work at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange where he learned to trade derivatives. He recently retired after 10 years with the same group. He has now turned his attention to the full-time disruption of the established Power Parties in Illinois.

Political Experience
Matt has run for United State Congress twice. In 1998 he ran against Jesse Jackson, Jr. in Illinois 2nd Congressional District, garnering 1.5% of the vote. In 2000 he ran against Rod Blagojevich (name sound familiar?) in the 5th District where he received over 20,000 (13%) votes.

Matt is a skilled dart player and was a member of the Windy City Dart League for 8 years. He is also an NRA certified instructor for beginner pistol. He has taught over 100 students the importance of gun safety and training.

Matt was elected chairman of the Libertarian Party of Chicago in January of 1999. In March of 2001, he was elected to Vice-Chair of Membership for the Libertarian Party of Illinois.

Matt has appeared on numerous radio and TV shows in the Chicago area and nationwide. His appearances include Chicago Tonight, The Jerry Hughes Show, The Ron Newman Show, The Marcus Hoffman Show, The Chris Bowman Show, and Citizens Lobby. He also hosts his own cable access show called The Angry Young Man (currently on hiatus).
