InfoI was born in Cobourg Ontario, a small town just east of Toronto. I am 41 and I have lived most of my life in the city. My work experience has been predominantly in hospitality, most recently as a restaurant manager for several years before returning to school. Currently I am finishing the third year of a Specialist Degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Toronto.

While working towards this degree I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to take various interdisciplinary courses in environmental studies. These courses have focused on such topics as: sustainable development and environmental impacts, mitigation versus adaptation strategies in climate change, property rights, econometrics, policy analysis, and the contributions of religion and philosophy to the discussion of environmental ethics. Privately, I have been researching environmental issues extensively for more than a decade and in recent years I have been actively working to engage politicians, government ministries and news agencies in productive dialogue on environmental issues.

I am running as the Green Party of Canada candidate in this election because I believe that we urgently need to rethink some of our basic assumptions. Once upon a time it was reasonable to assume that the world had unlimited space, inexhaustible resources and an infinite capacity to absorb the impacts of human activity. But the world has changed, our place in the world has changed and in today’s world these old assumptions are not only outdated they are dangerous.

For Canada to remain healthy and prosperous in the future our public policy, economic models, business practices, and legislation must be informed by the necessities of sustainability and balance. We simply cannot afford politics and business as usual.

I want Canadians to have health today and health tomorrow. I want us to have wealth today and wealth tomorrow. I believe I can make real contributions towards realizing these ideals and I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to try.
