Info | Pauline Browes is the Conservative Candidate for Scarborough-Guildwood. Ms. Browes is a committed Torontonian with deep roots in the city. From 1984-1993, she represented Scarborough Centre in the House of Commons. During that time as MP, she fought hard to improve her community, most notably by authoring a Private Member’s Motion which sparked the creation of the 10,000 acre Rouge Park, Canada’s largest urban park, located in Scarborough Centre.
For the last decade, Ms. Browes has served the Province of Ontario as the Vice Chair of the Environmental Review Tribunal. In that capacity, she has conducted public hearings and provided written decisions for the Ontario government on the Environmental Protection Act, the Environmental Assessment Act and the Save Drinking Water Act, among others. Her commitment to the environment goes beyond the tribunal. She has also served on the board of directors or chaired a number of environmental programs and trusts including the Friends of the Harwood Waterfront on the Trent Severn Waterway, the Waterfront regeneration Trust from Niagara to Brockville and the Wildlife Preservation Trust Canada.
Before becoming politically active, Pauline Browes was a teacher for the Scarborough Board of Education. She holds a Bachelor or Arts from York University, a teaching Certificate from the Toronto Teachers College and an Advanced Alternate Dispute Resolution and Mediation Certificate from the University of Windsor. Ms. Browes currently resides in Toronto.
