InfoPierre Lemieux began his career as an officer in the Canadian Forces. He served his country with pride and professionalism for 20 years and retired at the senior rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. After working as a manager in the high tech sector, he started his own project management company.

Pierre has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Royal Military College) and a Masters of Science (Cranfield Institute of Technology, UK). He has been a Professional Engineer since 1994 and is a certified Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute.

In January 2006, Pierre won the federal election and became a Member of Canada’s 39th Parliament. In doing so, he broke a 43-year Liberal hold in the Glengarry-Prescott portion of his riding, and in the Russell portion of his riding, he is the first Conservative MP elected in 124 years.

Pierre had the great honour of being personally selected by the Prime Minister to give the first speech in the 39th Parliament. In October 2007, the Prime Minister chose Pierre to be both the Parliamentary Secretary for Official Languages and the Deputy Whip for the Government.

Pierre represents his constituents on two important committees: Official Languages and Procedure and House Affairs. He previously served on the Standing Committee of International Trade.

Living in a bilingual, rural community, Pierre is committed to farmers, families and seniors and works diligently to represent their interests in Parliament. He is dedicated to the promotion of the Franco-Ontarian and Celtic cultures so present in his riding, and having been a small business owner, he understands the importance of small-to-medium business for the riding’s economic well-being.

Having devoted 20 years of his life to the military, Pierre is fully supportive of doing what is right for our soldiers. He knows that our men and women in uniform are among the finest in the world and that their dedication, professionalism and courage make them a source of great pride for Canadians across the country.

Pierre believes in the importance of the family in our society and recognizes that a healthy nation is built on strong families. Married for over 20 years and blessed with five children, Pierre fully supports the traditional definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman. He believes in the sanctity of life.

Pierre wants to restore people’s confidence and faith in good government. He offers experience, honesty, integrity and principles. As an MP, he is committed to providing his constituents with leadership that is accountable and trustworthy. He wants them to know that they will be listened to, that their views matter and that he will work to ensure that they are well represented in government.
