InfoCourtney Watson is serving the third year of her first term on the Board of Education and her second year as Chairman. As a lifelong Howard County resident, Mrs. Watson was educated in Howard County schools and graduated from Atholton High School.

Mrs. Watson has 20 years experience in business and is currently Vice President of Commercial Sales for a Howard County insurance agency. She is the past Chairperson of the Maryland Hospitality Education Foundation and a current board member of the Restaurant Association of Maryland. Mrs. Watson has served on the county's Adequate Public Facilities Ordinance Committee as well as the Ellicott City Master Plan Steering Committee. She also served as the Board of Education's representative to the County's Spending and Bond Affordability Committee.

On the local school level, Mrs. Watson founded a Science and Technology Fair for elementary age children and served on the School Improvement Team at the elementary level, where she helped create a Safety Committee to address issues unique to overcrowded schools. She was the recipient of the 2001 PTA Council of Howard County Award and a nominee for the Board of Education's 2001 Friends of Education Award.

Mrs. Watson serves on the Maryland Association of Boards of Education's Willis Award Committee and Legislative Committee.

Mrs. Watson earned a Bachelors degree from Loyola College in Maryland and later returned to earn a Masters of Business Administration. She and her husband live in Ellicott City with their three children, who attend Howard County public schools.
