InfoA life-long resident of Wakefield, 42 year-old Kevin Scott has over 20 years of community involvement and successful small business ownership.

After graduating from Wakefield High School, Kevin founded a successful automotive reconditioning service, which he ran for 10 years. He learned the value of a hard day's work, and realized that treating people right is the only way to build any worthwhile business.

Kevin's second endeavor was TechnoMatch, a firm dedicated to the strategic job placement of technology professionals throughout the Massachusetts I.T. industry. Acting as the facilitator in staffing companies with essential personnel taught him that there is a big difference between hiring the 'right person,' and the 'almost right person.'

How does Kevin's business background apply to this campaign? According to research conducted by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), 40% of the U.S. gross domestic product, 66% of new jobs and 98% of all new businesses are created by small business. Kevin's ability to understand the challenges of small businesses will mean that the small business ownders and employees of Massachusetts will have a Senator speaks their language and can directly address the issues that affect this vital sector of our economy.

In Wakefield, Kevin has served both as a Selectman and Board of Public Works member. By electing Kevin Scott, local officials will have a Senator who understands their challenges, because he has been there.

Kevin has also spent thousands of hours volunteering to make Massachusetts a better place to live. Through memberships in The Concord Coalition and The Pride in Wakefield Committee, and more recently as an assertive promoter of a statewide Rails-to-Trails network in Massachusetts, Kevin's community involvement has kept him close to the people of our state.

As Chairman of the Wakefield Rails-to-Trails Committee, Kevin continues to be instrumental in developing one of the country's premiere Rail Trails.

Kevin holds a Business Management degree from Newbury College, and in addition to his full time work, is currently completing, with honors, a B.A.in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Kevin speaks and reads Russian, and has participated in numerous symposia and conferences on U.S.-Russian relations. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies.
