Info | Darrell Bryant Bonapart was born to Thadius and Anne Bonapart on February 18, 1969. He was raised in the Seversville Community of Charlotte, NC. He currently resides in the Wilora Lake Community in East Charlotte. An alumnus of Charlotte public schools, he attended Bruns Avenue Elementary School, Quail Hollow Junior High School and is a graduate of South Mecklenburg High School, class of 1987. Darrell grew up in a working class family and is the youngest of eight siblings. His parents worked hard to maintain a good quality of life and education for the children and their love and demanding presence instilled in him a sense of service, responsibility and duty to his community. Today, he demonstrates those innate values by serving in the North Carolina Army National Guard and various associations and community groups. He is a Real Estate Training Consultant for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage.
While focusing his attention on making the city of Charlotte a better community for all, Darrell has embraced a primary focus of assisting senior citizens. Darrell served as president of the Young Democrats of Mecklenburg County from 2001 to 2003. He is a member of the Board of Directors, Mecklenburg Council on Aging, where his focus is improving the health and independence of older Charlotteans and increasing their contributions to the community. As a member of the Board of Directors, Mecklenburg County, Quasi-Judicial, Zoning Board of Adjustments (2000-2003), he helped preserve the safety and welfare of the community by encouraging safe construction and the most appropriate use of land throughout the city.
He is a true patriot who fully endorses and supports local, state and national Homeland Security Initiatives. During Operation Iraqi Freedom (October 2003—March 2005), he was hand-picked to serve as rear detachment non-commissioned officer in charge of all personnel and family matters of soldiers deployed into the Iraqi theatre of operations. He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 9488 and a member of the American Legion post 262 (serving as their Post Chaplain).
Darrell furthered his military studies at Ft. Leonard Wood where he graduated from the US Army Engineering School in 1991 and Ft. Sam Houston, graduating from the US Army Medical School in October 2000 currently serving as an Emergency Management Specialist.
As a student of politics he studied at the Mecklenburg County Focus on Leadership Institute, graduating in June 2000 and the North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, graduating in December 2000. He also studied real estate at the Mingle Institute of Real Estate graduating in October 1996. Boldly offering his diverse background and experience, Darrell is a man truly committed to making Charlotte a better place.
