InfoKenneth Hanna a candidate for County Council District 1 was born in 1946 and was a resident of SC until joining the US Army in 1966. He served three years: 12 months as an Airborne MP (118th ABN MPS) and 18 months in Special Forces (3rd Special Forces Group). After receiving an Honorable Discharge, he learned the welding trade and worked in the construction industry for approximately 30 years, recently semi-retiring.

He bought a farm and moved back to McCormick County in 1983 when he set up a small cattle operation. He is the former owner of Indian Hill Country Store and enjoys outdoor sporting and gold prospecting. He has served as treasurer of the McCormick County Cattlemen’s Association for two terms.

Kenneth says his favorite volunteer work is serving as Scoutmaster of McCormick BSA Troop 400 and working with youth and adult leaders in the Wood Badge Course.

He has studied with the Palmetto Leadership Training Group, a course that prepares individuals for serving in positions of leadership in the county. After completing this course he said, “I decided to seek a County Government office where I could serve and promote a better way of life for our citizens. I believe that the farming, forestry and outdoor sporting industries are good interests for promotion without deterring other possible industrial improvements”.

Kenneth is married to a teacher in McCormick School District and they have one son still in public school. Their grown daughter has provided five granddaughters to Mr. and Mrs. Hanna.
