InfoMr. Wright had worked as a state harness steward at the Maywood Horse racing track prior to his death in 1962. The $100 a day job was given to him by Governor Otto Kerner after supporting him in the 1960 election. Wright threw his support to Kerner after Governor William Stratton refused to support him in his bid for U.S. Senate in the GOP primary of that same year.

Wright also worked an $800 a month job as a state investigator for the public works department.

Prior to his election to statewide office for the first time in 1940 Wright operated an automobile agency in Murrayville, Illinois. He served overseas during World War I.

Wright ran unsuccessfully for State Treasurer in 1930 and a few more times losing the race for State Treasurer a total of 6 times winning it twice. He ran unsuccessfully for U.S. House in 1934 and for the At Large seat in 1936 in the GOP Primary. Other primaries he lost were his bids for U.S. Senate twice and once for Illinois Governor.

In 1948 Wright actively campaigned for General Douglas MacArthur and served as his national campaign coordinator.

Wright was born March 26, 1893 in Murrayville and died March 29, 1962 in Park Ridge, Illinois. He was buried in Murrayville.

He served as Illinois State Treasurer from 1941-1943 and 1955-1957.
