Campari_007: In regards to that last Brent post. Jordan is such a loser.

Its surprising to me that a party looking for unity after having to remove their speaker would have a candidate saying he is not going to support the other candidate if he loses. The Republican Party in congress is fractured even more after McCarthy's removal and any outcome seems possible today.

From punchbowl:

In an hour and a half, House Republicans will head to 1100 Longworth to elect a speaker.

I've never seen the House Republican Conference so discombobulated, rudderless and confused in my time covering Congress.

They said they'd spend the fall passing bills using regular order, instead they've booted their speaker and are warring over the next one.

They are rewriting the rules for the election the day of the election after criticizing states for doing that in 2020.

They are taking the cell phones of elected officials when they go into meetings -- these are adults with staffs who are not able to bring their electronics into party meetings.

This speaker election could go a while. Two weeks now on an internal party matter with govt funding expiring in a month and change

Have to say I'm pleasantly surprised these election deniers have been as uniformly defeated as they are in anything resembling a swingy or moderate electorate, if only because I would bet a good chunk of Americans probably feel that democracy has failed them on some level. People are still struggling.

For that reason, Democrats and non-MAGA Republicans owe it to the American people to make it clear that democracy is worth preserving. The margin here and elsewhere is still remarkably close, and the seeds of future despotism are still planted for Trump or a Trump-like figure to exploit.

92% now in with Frisch's 8K lead holding. 22% of Dem favorable Pueblo County still out. 9% of GOP favorable Mesa County still out.

Unless those are GOP votes in Pueblo, it looks very likely that Boebert will be going down tonight.

It is unsurprising that support for Johnson would collapse as we get close to election day and that Kotek would get more of her supporters than Drazan.

I don't think Sinema plans on running for re-election (at least as a Democrat), but I have no idea what she's trying to actually do.
