John: Attempting to impeach Obama is one of the few ways the GOP could guarantee the Democrats take back the House.

I disagree. Once impeached because the party line, 50% of the country would get behind it. It would make no difference.

If this is a Muslim who did this, the news will hide that fact until they absolutely have to disclose it.

And once the individual mandate kicks in, it will be the poor who suffer. Insurance companies will always be free to gouge when they know consumers have no real recourse.

It's amazing. Almost all of the bad things the opposition said would happen with Obamacare passage has happened.

Rising premiums, rising costs, hours being cut, people losing their coverage. Hell, even the cost of taking care of your pets is going to rise due to the medical equipment taxes.

Its all about the oil & natural gas surrounding the archipelago, and on that basis, the whole Argentina-is-closer argument starts to have a great deal more validity. I mean, why should Britain get a bunch oil and gas reserves off the coast of Argentina, merely because they've staked a claim to some otherwise almost meaningless archipelago ? The most fair solution is for the Falklands to revert to nominal Argentine control, but with complete autonomy & self-government (to the point of their virtually being an independent state), with a treaty allowing them to secede entirely from Argentina (and presumably revert back to British administration...taking their oil & gas territorial rights with them), if its ever determined that the self-rule provision has been violated by the Argentines. This allows the "Kelpies" (as Falkland Islanders are colloquially known) to enjoy their freedom & security, and prevents Britain from stealing South Atlantic natural resources from nations that actually exist in the South Atlantic.

...a member of the bar has filed papers requesting the nation's highest court strike down all the same-sex marriage laws in the U.S. as a violation of the Constitution's protection of free speech and association.

That doesn't seem like a very strong argument, to say the least.

The notion that the Equal Protection Clause somehow prevents the states from defining marriage as a particular sort of arrangement, rather than a sex-neutral pairing of any two individuals, sounds a great deal like wishful thinking (even if the courts wind up enforcing that view, that would simply be a miscarriage of justice on the order of the ludicrous notion that the 4th Amendment guarantees a right to abortion - I don't care where you stand on the aboriton question; NO ONE believes the 4th Amendment guarantees a right to it).

But the idea that same-sex marriage laws can be over-turned on the basis of some conflict with the First Amendment, seems bizarre.

Dr. King Schultz: This guy is flat out incompetent, Gingrich, at least knew how to get the votes for a Democratic president and could generally work with him.

It's a shift of both parties. Obama is much more unreasonable than Clinton and Boehner has a much more conservative caucus than Gingrich.

No. Considering Barry's suffocating effect on down-ballot races, that would be a justified cause for panic.

This will only advance the idea that Democrats are soft on defense when their default action is to have Republicans get the job done.

One of the biggest mistakes ever made, if Barnes has appointed someone else, we would never have had to hear Zell give his infamous Spitballs speech at the RNC.

IndyEurope: I would prefer her to run against Rand Paul in 2016, but I assume more people would be itching to get into that race (especially if he tries a presidential run for a few months).

This is part of the argument for Judd-if none of the most serious contenders are going to take on McConnell (Grimes, Hollenbach, Edelon), in anticipation of the 2015 and 2016 races, why not go with a candidate with instant name recognition and great fundraising connections? I mean, if one of those first tier candidates jump in, that'd be for the best, but if it's looking like the Democrats won't be able to coax one of those candidates into the race, the D's could do a lot worse than a rich, well-liked, universally-known attractive candidate with solid Kentucky roots, even if she hasn't lived there her whole life.

I'm not surprised the Al Gore crowd didn't like my comment.

I support the electoral college because we don't live in a democracy, we live in a constitutional Republic. If the Presidency was decided by popular vote, instead of 12 swing states, politicians would focus only on the big cities. That's terrible. Under a national Maine/Nebraska system, 100-200 CD's would be contested by the Presidential candidates, with one in every state except the smallest states. So Obama would have a reason to visit California, Illinois, New York, etc, and Romney would have a reason to visit Oklahoma, in Mullin's district for instance.

It's a radical improvement on the original system.
