It's really kind of a good thing social media didn't exist in the mid-1990s, or else we'd have basement-dwellers the world over singing the praises of real American hero Aldrich Ames.

Chronicler: Andy: Nixon visiting China was about as big of a blunder as invading Iraq.
Can you elaborate?
Glad to. If you operate from a super-internationalist "let's attempt to make everyone in the world our friends, any other potential considerations, tradeoffs, or unintended consequences be damned" sort of standpoint, then I concede that there was nothing bad about Nixon's visit to China. I do wonder if there would've been a better way for us to open up dialogue with the nation without giving such direct rise to the next great capitalist empire.

Kane for Senate: Thank God SOMEONE is standing up to Obama and challenging his war crimes.
I don't know where you've been, but I'd say Obama has gotten quite a bit of flak from the far-left wing of his own party for his stances on foreign policy. It's not as if Medea Benjamin's some lone voice in the dark pits of a cold and unforgiving world.

Barack Obama is an evil Allah-worshipping commie for even daring to think of depriving us of another Baron Hill/Mike Sodrel-style extended rivalry.

Brandon's pointing out that unbridled capitalism sucks, not any ounce of capitalism ever in the history of man. Mixed-market systems can, if implemented properly, certainly be a good thing; capitalism so unrestricted it'd make Ayn Rand drool, not so much.

Sesel: I am confident that Ginsburg will make what she feels is the right choice.
This style of thinking is why leftists and left-leaners can never have nice things.

Ralphie: I see what you're doing, you make a controversial pro-spider statement and then end it with another statement that 99% of the site will agree with so as to prevent any thumbs-downs. Such shameful manipulation!
maybe i'll make a good politician someday after all!!!!!

Are we supposed to discuss any and all access raises for established members before going ahead with them? If so, I'd like to propose that a Group be created similar to the seldom-used Democrats Only/Republicans Only/Third Party Only things for discussing administrative actions.

A sense of undeserved entitlement is endemic of the human condition in general, but I'd say that Baby Boomers are certainly more prone to it than most.

Picimpalious: Ticket splitting makes people feel smart.
Yep. Wisconsin's ticket-splitting is probably a product of an apparent need by state residents to be recognized as 'smart' for things other than their test scores by people on the coasts as much as it is due to anything else.

Considering the fact that the accent you hear people like Scott Walker and Tommy Thompson speak with is more of a stereotype than an actuality (at least in urban areas, which Thompson admittedly isn't from), no. There are some people up in Rhinelander or whatever that do speak like the characters in Fargo, but said people also make up a rather small percentage of the state relative to the Milwaukee and Madison metropolitan areas.

You know, regardless of the fact that Claire McCaskill spent money on ads for Todd Akin in the Republican primary, the man still won the thing and should go ahead as their nominee. It's the way the cookie of democracy crumbles, and I'd hope the Republicans who defended the Wisconsin GOP's running of fake Democrats in recall primaries to the death would agree with that.
