Four fine choices (including Eugene Chafin), and Wilson.

Borrowing a quote from Bette Davis when Joan Crawford died (substitute Rush Limbaugh for Joan Crawford):

"You should never say bad things about the dead, only good… Joan Crawford is dead. Good.”

I think a reason for Stevenson doing better here in 1956 compared to 1952 is because of non-major party choices Hallinan is a slam dunk choice, and 1956 has no such options.

Joe Biden, okay. Harris, give me a break. Still no respect to Joe. Maybe he'll have to get 100 million votes next time to get some credit.

Saw an article this morning (of course can't find it now), that said former Atlanta Mayor Sam Massell (Mayor of Atlanta 1970-1974) was going to run in this race (politics1 also has him listed as a candidate).

Well, this party label certainly doesn't seem to fit any more.

Thanks so much for the kind words. I've added a decent amount in the past, but in the past half decade haven't been worth much here - life happens (a single father of four daughters about to turn 52 22 years into a double organ transplant doesn't always find time for everything they want!).

Randy set up a great site here. Folks like IndyGeorgia and RBH have done a ton of work. Folks like them and others such as yourself really keep this site going.

Yes, a political science and history double major. My interests and votes have been rather eccentric and over the board. I voted for Yang yesterday (my candidates, Messam and Sestak were already gone), and my daughter Teresa has been for Yang since day one, so voted for him (my Mom did the same for me voting for Bush over Reagan in 1980).

Thanks again, and I'll quit rambling for now.

Biden has really got the organization, I mean, it must take a lot of manpower to suppress the vote in every single county in the state (while folks were doing the same thing in Mississippi and Missouri the same day).

Bernie will be the Democratic nominee for President.

Bernie will get stomped to pieces in November.

Dirty campaigning will come out of the woodwork for this one. Flower bombs, willie Horton and swiftboats will have nothing on this race.

Saying positive things about Castro, even if true, will not play well in mainstream America.

Bernie has health issues.

Bernie is old.

Bernie is divisive.

Although 75 before he became a millionaire, Bernie will be portrayed as a wealthy hypocrite.

Trying to be nominated for VP by the Marxist Socialist Workers Party in 1980 will not help.

Touting being a Socialist for over half a century will not help.

An economy that on the surface is doing well will not help.

Supporters who seem abrasive, over the top and in your face will not help.

I see the choice of VP as no help to Bernie, if he picks someone who is rich or a conservative he will be seen as a fraud. If he picks a moderate he will put people asleep. If he picks someone to the left it will be portrayed as Team Extreme.

I can't stand Trump, never voted for him and never will. Besides possibly Wilson he is our worst President ever, and definitely our most evil.

But he will defeat Bernie for a second term.

I don't see anyone dropping out after Nevada.

Pete, Bernie, Amy and Bloomberg continue.

Steyer, Joe, and even Tulsi seem to be focusing on South Carolina - that is the state that will probably be the candidate graveyard.

Warren, I can't see dropping out before March 3 - with a last stand in Massachusetts and Oklahoma. When she loses those, like Anderson, Willkie and Brown did in Wisconsin, it will be bye bye time for her.

Mitt has no worries about his seat.

Trump did worse percentage wise here than he did in over 30 other states, and he finished third to Cruz and Kasich here during the primary season with under 14%.

Personally, I think Jesus would have a hard time beating Mitt in Utah.

The only way that Mitt leaves the Senate here is another Presidential run, death, being named an LDS Church Apostle, or heading the 2030 Salt Lake Olympic bid. Defeat for Mitt in Utah is about as likely as me being named the King of Zambia.

Not commenting on the merits/demerits of those listed, I just find it nice that a single individual won the award.

Also nice is that, for the first time since 2010, an individual won who wasn't a head of state or president elect.

Wayne Messam hasn't filed yet in New Hampshire, and today is the deadline. I saw speculation earlier that he was only running to raise name recognition for whenever this seat opens. It just makes me wonder if he is prepping to enter here, as Alcee may end up retiring due to all of his recent "health" issues.

A question - would folks here be fine or not with the following additions to this listing: 1) Jacob Chestnut and John Gibson (July 28, 1998) officers killed at the Capitol, 2) Elijah Cummings (today) who laid in state in the National Statuary Hall of the Capitol and 3) Samuel Hooper (Feb 16 1875) a Congressman who laid in state in the u s house chamber?

I like where access is earned through participation and input, so this doesn't thrill me. Not sure what level we are talking about, but I feel that any level above 25 access should have to meet RP's support.
