BBC Constituency Profile:
The Great Grimsby seat, in North East Lincolnshire, includes the once-famous fishing port of Grimsby. The town is still a major container port and a leading fish-processing centre, with seafood producer and distributor Young's headquartered here. However, the area remains an unemployment blackspot.
Former TV presenter Austin Mitchell has held this constituency for Labour since 1977, when he won a by-election held after the death of Labour's former Foreign Secretary Anthony Crosland. He had enjoyed comfortable majorities in 1997, at 16,000, and 2005, at 7,654, but this narrowed to 714 in 2010, when he wonwith 32.7 of the vote, followed by the Conservatives on 30.5%, Liberal Democrats 22.4% and UKIP 6.2%.
More than 29% of people here do not have a passport - the fifth-highest proportion - according to ONS 2011 Census statistics for England and Wales. Among economically active residents, 7.9% are unemployed.
