BBC Constituency Profile:
Situated in West Yorkshire is the seat of Bradford East. Created at the last election to replace Bradford North, the new constituency stretches from the edge of the city centre to Bolton and Undercliffe, Bowling and Barkerend, Bradford Moor, Eccleshill, Idle, Thackley and Little Horton.
Almost a third of the population - 30% - is Pakistani - the fourth highest proportion of all the constituencies in England and Wales, according to ONS 2011 Census figures. A tenth do not have English as a first language. At 36.9%, it has the fifth highest proportion of Muslims in the country.
Bradford was historically a wool-trading centre, but the decline in the industry has seen unemployment rise to 7.4% - with 2.1% having never worked. Liberal Democrat David Ward took the seat from Labour in 2010 with 365 votes and a 33.7% share of the votes; Labour got 32.8%, Conservatives 26.8% and BNP 4.6%.
