Description BBC Constituency Profile:

This largely urban seat in London's commuter belt looks set to be a three-way contest. Held by the Conservatives and Labour since 1997, the Lib Dems have placed second in the last two elections. It includes the borough of Watford and suburbs of Abbots Langley, Leavesden - home to the Warner Bros film studios- Carpenders Park and Oxhey Hall. It enjoys excellent transport links via the M1 and M25, while Watford Junction is a significant transport hub.

Traditionally a centre for engineering, brewing and printing, only the latter remains a big employer, Trinity Mirror Printing are based here. Instead the service sector has boomed and the seat enjoys high employment rates. Watford also hosts the headquarters of large companies like truck-maker Iveco, lottery firm Camelot and Mothercare. The seat is ethnically diverse, with a significant Asian population.

Watford was won by the Conservatives' Richard Harrington in 2010, with a majority of 1,425 votes over the Lib Dems.
