BBC Constituency Profile:
The constituency of Dunbartonshire West was created in 2005, combining the western, less affluent parts of the old Clydebank area with the wards of Dumbarton Clydebank's Titan Crane, now an industrial landmark, stands as a reminder of the area's shipbuilding history.
Tourism is increasing in the area, thanks in part to Loch Lomond and Trossachs becoming Scotland's first National Park in 2002, while old industrial sites at Clydebank riverside and Dumbarton waterfront are being regenerated. The seat is also home to Allied Distillers and the Auchentoshan whiskey distillery.
Voters in this area have traditionally returned Labour MPs and, for a number of years, the seat was represented by party grandee John McFall. In 2010 it was held by Labour's Gemma Doyle, with a sizeable majority of 17,408 votes.
