| Description |
BBC Constituency Profile:
A rural seat covering much of mid Wales, the constituency contains the towns of Brecon and Llandrindod Wells, as well as Builth Wells, home to the annual Royal Welsh Show.
Agriculture is a major employer, and the constituency has a high number of small businesses - there are 616 business units per 10,000 of the population here, the 15th highest figure in the UK.
Politically the seat has been a fought over by the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives in recent years; the Liberal Party won a 1985 by-election and held the seat in 1987, with the Conservatives taking in back in 1992. Since 1997 it has been held by the Lib Dems; in 2010 Roger Williams won with 46.2% of the vote, with the Tories on 36.5%, Labour on 10.4%, Plaid Cymru on 2.5% and UKIP on 2.3%
