BBC Constituency Profile:
The north-west London seat of Hampstead and Kilburn boasts millionaires and mansions in affluent Hampstead and a greater mixture of people from a variety of cultures, along with pockets of deprivation, in Kilburn. Schools are in high demand, and the Royal Free Hospital is a big employer in the locality. In addition, there are at least 60 English Heritage blue plaques marking the diverse personalities who have lived in Hampstead.
Of this seat's white residents, 3.7% are Irish, which is the third-highest ranking, according to figures from the ONS 2011 Census for England and Wales.
The constituency was created in 2010 out of the Brent East, Brent South and Hampstead and Highgate seats. Actress Glenda Jackson won for Labour with a majority of just 42. She collected 32.8% of the vote, with the Conservatives on 32.7%, LiberalDemocrats 31.2% and Green 1.4%.
