Description BBC Constituency Profile:

This large Oxfordshire seat is represented by the prime minister and has been won by Conservative MPs since 1974. It was briefly represented by Labour when Shaun Woodward defected in 1999. Among areas covered are the market towns of Witney, Chipping Norton and Woodstock. The second largest town is Carterton, near RAF Brize Norton - Britain's biggest airforce base.

A fairly affluent seat, it has a largely white population, lots of families, high employment and many residents in top managerial jobs. Witney's old blanket factories have been replaced by smaller hi-tech businesses. Oxfordshire is part of "Motorsport Valley", home to various Formula One teams including Lotus and Williams, and many companies service the industry. It also includes part of the Cotswolds and Blenheim Palace, so tourism is important.

David Cameron won in 2010 with 58.8% of the vote, the Lib Dems got 19.4%, Labour 13% and the Greens 4.1%.
