Description |
The election of the National Assembly president in 1888 was a very closed one, that ended with the designation of the conservative Jules Méline as president. Both he and radical candidate Clemenceau earned 168 votes on the third ballot, but Méline was chosen over Clemenceau due to the fact that he was older.
