Description |
During the french presidential election of 1931, two ballots were needed to have a President. Paul Doumer and Aristide Briand faced each other in the first ballot, were Doumer took a slim advantage over his rival, gaining 442 of the ballots casted, to Briand's 401. In the second round, Briand withdrew his candidacy, but his supporters drafted Pierre Marraud who accepted the draft. Doumer won the second round handily with 504 votes to Marraud's 334, and became President.
