| Description |
According to the Haitian Constitution, Haiti's Supreme Court Chief Justice Boniface Alexandre is first in line to assume the presidency when the nation's president steps down. This position is only temporary and will last until new elections are held.
However, according to the Haitian constitution, this needs to be ratified by Congress, the Haitian congress was disbanded earlier this year as no elections had been held to select its members.
