Description
BBC Profile:
The seat of Denton and Reddish, in Greater Manchester, has been Labour since its creation in 1983. Andrew Bennett stood down as MP in 2005 after five terms and was replaced by Andrew Gwynne, who retained the seat for Labour with a majority of 13,498.
At the election, the seat gains the part-wards of Reddish South and Audenshaw. It loses the part-wards of St Peters and Droylsden East to Ashton under Lyne, Hyde Newton and Dukinfield Stalybridge to Stalybridge, and Hyde and Heatons North, Heatons South, and Brinnington and Central to Stockport.

To find out what might have happened had this boundary change been in force at the last election, see a notional - or estimated - result below.

Denton and Reddish is on the outskirts of Manchester, sitting between the city's airport and industry on one side, and the Pennine moors on the other. The constituency follows the river Tame from the centre of Stockport almost to the centre of Stalybridge.

There are a large number of skilled manual workers within the constituency, but also relatively high unemployment. Large swathes of terraced housing exist in Reddish, Denton and Dukinfield. In Houldsworth Mill, a large 18th century building has been recently renovated to provide modern office and residential space.

Despite its industrial heritage, the constituency is on green belt land and the picturesque Reddish Vale country park runs through the constituency.
