| Description |
Hyatt and Switzler stopped actively campaigning before the primary and supported Kariotis.
Hyatt dropped out after the disclosure of forged names on his nomination papers and his decision to solicit campaign funds from a reputed organized crime figure. Also, allegations of being nude on the job hindered Hyatt's aspirations.
Switzler ended his campaign after admitting he had lied about his military record. Switzler's campaign literature had said he was an Army Special Forces captain who had served in Vietnam. But he was a sergeant in Korea and had visited Vietnam only for two weeks while on leave.
Hyatt withdrew as the nominee after this primary and Kariotis got the nomination.
