Description

As a result of successful ballot measures, King County will have an elected director of elections beginning with a special 2009 election. The nonpartisan position will oversee county elections management, which had been appointed by the county executive prior to the charter amendments. There will be no primary election to narrow the candidate field, so it is possible if not likely that the winner could be elected by a plurality of votes rather than a majority.
