| Description |
Since no candidate won 30% in the June 4th Primary, a convention was held to pick the candidate.
FIRST BALLOT: Jeff Ballenger- 135 votes (25 percent), Steve King- 185 (35 percent), John Redwine- 99 (19 percent), Brent Siegrist-114 (21 percent). Redwine drops out, endorses King.
SECOND BALLOT: Ballenger- 128 (24 percent), King- 255 (48 percent), Siegrist- 150 (28 percent). Ballenger drops out, endorses Siegrist .
THIRD BALLOT*: King- 272 (51 percent), Siegrist- 253 (47 percent).
*Seven Woodbury County delegates who had supported Ballenger left before the final vote, and one Pottawattamie County delegate's vote was thrown out on the last ballot to account for a total of 525. Percentages are rounded.
