Description |
A caucus of precinct committeemen and women from Senate District 19 chose Holdman with a majority on the fourth ballot over Mike Scott, Nan Nidlinger and Tamra Boucher to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Sen. David Ford.
"During the first two rounds of voting, Holdman received 31 and 32 votes respectively, more than the other candidates but still less than the 37-vote majority needed to win.
After the second round of votes, Markle Town Council President Tamra Boucher was removed from the ballot, having received only one vote during each round. Another hopeful, former Adams County Clerk Nan Nidlinger, was dropped after receiving 17 votes during the third round, leaving the contest between Holdman and Grant County Council President Mike Scott.
When final votes were tallied, Holdman had 43 votes and the victory, with Scott receiving 29 votes."
