| Description |
The national DR Caucus met on 5/18/1812. With the death of VP George Clinton, a replacement nominee was needed. The Caucus chose John Langdon by a margin of 64 to 18 for Elbridge Gerry.
Langdon declined to run, and a second session of the Caucus was called.
The second session was held on 6/8/1812. It nominated Gerry for VP by a margin of 74-3.
