Description |
In the last recognition of the Chronicler administration, we announce two Users of the Week. These two users - Eddy 9_99 and Thomas Walker - have been the #1 and #2 creators of races in the past year. Together, the two of them entered over 15,000 races (47% of all races created) in the past 12 months. They both set new records in 2006 for most races created in a single month, and they are tied at 3,537 for the most races created in two consecutive months.
Eddy first came to OC on 10/23/2002 and is User #84. He had been active on a political message board before coming to OC and first met several OC'ers there (including Randy). One of Eddy's screen names was King of Site Building, which aptly describes his activities at OC. He has created an impressive 18,882 races, over 17,000 candidate profiles, and over 3,800 sub-races. Eddy has made his mark especially in entering current legislative races and working on historic races from Michael Dubin's book and from the website of the Clerk of the U.S. House. He has not participated much in the discussions at OC, tending to concentrate on enhancing the database. Eddy entered site politics in 2004, when he challenged Brian G in the OC Republican primary for President. Eddy lost by a narrow 8-7 margin. DFW Dem went on to win that race, and he appointed Eddy to serve a term as OC Attorney General. After this term in office, Eddy returned to his site building. DFW Dem went on to win that race, and he appointed Eddy to serve a term as OC Attorney General. After this term in office, Eddy returned to his site building. He agreed to enter the race for OC Vice President in the Keystone Primary in the last election, and he was elected to the post. In real life, Eddy is currently a Republican, though he had been a Democrat earlier.
Thomas Walker first came to OC on 6/12/2003 and is User #334. He lives in Arizona, though he was raised in Columbus, Ohio. His party at OC is the Abolition Party, though in real life he is affiliated with the Libertarian Party. He has physically seen four US Presidents, probably more than any other OC'er. TW ranks #2 currently in the number of races created - at 16,324. Among the interesting types of races he has posted are the races for First Lady and Second Lady of the USA. He also completed the presidential primaries back to 1912, worked with Dave Jones to complete the first two congressional districts back to 1789, completed the U.S. House races in California back to statehood, entered the major party national conventions back to the beginning, and entered a huge amount of races for Governor. He has held numerous OC posts, including a term as President - winning the last truly competitive race. His presidency was marked by the gumballhead scandal, which led to his resignation before his term ended (the only OC President who has resigned). TW has been active in most of the OC sports leagues, winning once. His wife Becky is also active at OC, where she has made a remarkable showing in entering sub-races. They have been married for 12 years. [Less...]
