Description Approximate dates.

The campaign gathered an estimated 180,000 petition signatures, enough to qualify for an election. But then state Attorney General Gary Nelson, among others, objected. Nelson ruled deputy registrars could not lawfully collect signatures, invalidating tens of thousands of names. A federal lawsuit ensued, and Nelson's ruling was eventually overturned. But by then, it didn't matter. There would be no recall election. [Link]
