Description |
Cobb was appointed by Governor Easley to replace Meg Scott Phipps, who resigned from the position. He was initially appointed "interim commissioner" (Raleigh News & Observer, 6/7/2003). Cobb dropped the word "interim" around 12/15/2003.
The term extended to 2/8/2005 due to the contested 2004 election result.
