Dirk Kempthorne resigned as Idaho governor shortly before 1 p.m. on May 26, 2006 to assume his new post as secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior, and Lt. Gov. Jim Risch became Idaho’s 31st governor.
A legally mandated public swearing-in ceremony as well as an inauguration is set for June 2 at the State Capitol.
