Lunsford may be a regiested Democrat, but he is a Republican at heart! When he backed out of the last Gov Race he threw is backing to Fletcher.
Wake up folks!

Just like all the other Democrats that have voted Republican, maybe they felt that the other Democrats are not good enough or else they don't represent the conservative views that the traditional Kentucky Democrats hold? That is why they vote and support Republicans. Lunsford is no different than a majority of Kentucky Democratic voters and perhaps he sees himself as that leader of the traditional democratic voters. Since he is running for Governor as a Democrat that obviously goes to show that he is a Democrat at heart, and if he wins he will most likely not donate to Republicans, it does not look good for the party and will make him an easy target in 2011.
Kentucky needs a Democrat who can carry the state to victory and frankly I think Beshear and Henry had their chance but failed, what makes you think they could win as Governor?
Lunsford has that capability to unite the 58% Democratic voters and even bring some Republicans onto his side. Kentucky needs someone whot can unite the party, not divide it, and Lunsford is that candidate.

Apparently if he was elected as a Republican, just like Giuliani as a former Democrat is running for President must mean he's a Republican at heart. People are way to negative and don't look at the big picture. Lunsford is going to win its almost fact.

I like your way of thinking MrCharlesMBurns!!!!!!
If Beshears cannot get the 41% he needs in the primary...I will take the run off results!!!!!!!

With Miller dead in the polls I think Beshear is the best chance for any one left of center to have a good candidate for Governor.

I combined Beshear,Henry, and Miller supporters and Lunsford,Richards,Gailbrath and Hensley supporters.
Lunsford can also be a frontrunner for Mitch McConnell's Senate Seat.
Miller runs for Congress in 2010 to succeed Ben Chandler who runs for the Bunning Seat.

I doubt the Dems would nominate Beshear, he won only one state race 24 years ago, all the other offices he ran for he lost. He is old news, so is Henry. Kentucky Democrats are looking for someone who can unite the party. For this they need someone fresh and new, not the same old same old. And I desagree, if Beshear did win the primary it would not be by ten points, I would predict more like 52-48%.

After all, he threw his support to Fletcher 4 years ago!

I'd probably vote for a write-in. It's terrible that a sleezy opportunist like Lunsford is going to win this primary.

If all of Miller's supporters support Beshear now per Miller's request, then they are in a statistical dead heat which is great news for Beshear fans.

It would be great news, but one cannot honestly expect all his supporters to follow him to Beshear's candidacy. The race has likely tightened, but the advantage remains with Lunsford.

They definitely will not move 100% to Beshear. I can't imagine Miller commanded that sort of devotion among his supporters that they would all follow him wherever he went. He'll probably be lucky if 60-70% follow him to Beshear.

It also puts more focus on Beshear now. Could push supporters of other canidates to take other look at Beshear.
Btw where is each canidate base of support located?

How is Lunsford sleazy?
He's run a positive campaign this time, which I applaud, but in 2003 he smeared Chandler relentlessly with distortions and untruths.
