Description |
Faucette candidacy
Faucette announced his candidacy under the banner of the Independent Alliance (a farmer's organization) on 9/18/1890 (Lenoir Topic, 10/1/1890). The Republican district convention met that same day and agreed not to run a nominee. Many delegates wanted to officially endorse Faucette, who became the unofficial Republican candidate (Lenoir Topic, 9/24/1890).
