Description On February 16, 2005, Premier Dalton McGuinty called a byelection for the following March 17 to replace former Premier Ernie Eves, who retired earlier this year.

On Feb. 12, new PC leader John Tory won his party's nomination to run for this seat. Despite not living in this riding, Tory is a heavy favorite because not only is he a party leader, but the area is a Tory stronghold.
