The Free Democratic Party Convention was held in the building named the Canistata in Syracuse NY, three weeks after the Liberty Party had met in the same building. The FDP nominated Gerrit Smith NY for President. The NYT did not provide the name of a VP nominee. Smith declined to run, as he supported William Goodell for president.
